Netscape Communicator
The following is a guide to setting up mailboxes in Netscape Communicator. It is based on the demo configuration at webHQ using the given information below.
| Option | Setting |
| Name | Fred Smith |
| Email address | fred@demo.com.au |
| Mail box | demo1 |
| Password | passdemo |
| Incoming mail server | mail.demo.com.au |
| Outgoing mail server | mail.demo.com.au or mail.otherisp.com.au |

Click on the "Edit" menu and then select the menu option "Preferences" as shown above.
The following screen should appear and fill in
the "Your name" and the "Email address" options as shown above with
the relevant information.
If the above screen does not appear, make sure that the "Identity"
option has been selected on the left hand side.
Next, click on the "Mail Servers" tree branch and fill in the "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" option. If you use ECN to dialup to the Internet, this should be filled in with "mail.demo.com.au". However, if you use another ISP besides ECN, you should fill this in with the address of your providers SMTP server. This is usually in the form of "mail.yourisp.com.au"

Once you have completed the above step, click
the "Edit" button. A window like the one above should appear.
In the "Server Name" field, enter the address of your incoming mail
server. Next, make sure the "Server Type" option is set to "POP3
Server". Finally, in the username field, enter the name of the mailbox
to which your email address belongs. For instance, in this example,
the username would be "demo1" because "Fred@demo.com.au" is in the
"demo1" mailbox. Next, click the OK button to finalise the settings.
Once all changes have been checked, simply click the "OK" button. You should now be ready to send and receive mail!
